ABOUT

My journey to becoming a lawyer started as a child: my mother always told me “you argue so much, you should be a lawyer”. However, after completing my professional training, I soon realised that what motivated me was not “winning” the argument but finding solutions that worked for both sides.

This practical, results-driven approach defines who I am and how I work (and is probably why I am so focused on efficiency and simplification).

RETHINK LEGAL has grown out of my professional experience over the past 20 years “sitting on both sides of the fence” – advising clients as external counsel at law firms in the UK and Switzerland, and in senior in-house roles as part of a 200-person legal team in a global business.

It brings together the best of both worlds – truly business-focused, pragmatic advice founded on the belief that “dealing with legal” should be simple, efficient, and cost-effective, but with the flexibility of an external provider.

Where required, we leverage a trusted network of independent legal experts to provide additional expertise on specific engagements.

Why RETHINK?

“No problem can withstand the assault of sustained thinking.”

Voltaire

Goals, structure and tasks are important, but – as human beings – it is concentrated, focused thinking that allows us find solutions to obstacles and moves us forward.

So – to make progress, we need to challenge ourselves to think differently, to push ourselves out of the “comfort zone”. As a runner, I know how much this is true in sport, but it is also true in business. Change is difficult. Visualising the outcome, and believing it can be achieved, is a powerful way to get started.

I think a lot while running, and I’ve noticed a clear pattern in my thinking over the course of a run: At the start, when I’m full of energy, I get the big issues (the difficult stuff) out of the way. In the middle of my run, I think about nothing at all – I just enjoy being in the moment. Towards the end, I find myself setting goals and visualising success (typically about running, but not always).

RETHINK LEGAL helps businesses think differently about managing risks, resourcing legal work and optimizing legal and contract processes.
